Dusk

Dusk    - Sudiptaa Bhattacharya  The sky, Change its form. I sit alone, On a roof by norm. Just as a ritual, As they fly casual. They are the birds, That passed,  bidding adieu, To the day.

The Day I turned 19

As my birthday is just in a month so I justed want to share with my readers one of my birthday experiences that was entirely different for me. Basically, I witnessed birthday celebration at home inviting few close ones over a good dinner or sometimes at lunch and with cake cutting and payesh being predominant over cake as I belong from a Bengali family. Yeah, my birthday also experienced sharing toffees at school in my class and also I have the experience of exams on birthdays.
So, the day I am going to reveal to you is back at 2020 on 6th March. Fortunately covid did not paved it's way to India by that time, there was no lockdown, only certain campaigns, here and there about the new virus. So that day I had my college. All I knew was that there is nothing much about the day only I had a lovely lunch made by my mother in my lunchbox. And yes I was little dressed up while going to the college, unlike other days when I go entirely in a mess.

So, while on the way to the college, when I was in the auto, I received two or three phone calls from my friends that whether I was coming to college but none wished me. Well, I didn't count that too. I reached a little early as per my class timing, so I went to the girls'common room. None of the girls that called me were there. I asked one of my department mates that whether they are coming she said they didn't come yet. Well, I did all the classes and in the first class my close friend, Anushka didn't turn up but I was a little confused as she called me up before. In the Lunch break Hemasree offered me a cup cake so we all shared it. Then after lunch I did all the two classes and Anushka turned up by that time. Then Anushka somehow took me out of the department and we were standing in the corridor and she started becoming serious and stared discussing serious things with me. Then we again went back to our department and the door was closed. Till then I was totally unaware of what was waiting for me at the other side of the room. As I opened the door, I hard a loud sound by the mass wishing me Happy Birthday all together and a cake with candles on the desk and my name was written on the cake. I was overwhelmed by the initiative of my department mates. I just grabbed the hand of Anushka while cutting the cake, as she has been my friend since my school. Here, I would like to say, special thanks to Priya who had the list of birthdays of all department mates and she was the one who first came up with the initiative of celebriting birthdays in college.

So, I actually didn't know before that how cake cutting on birthday in college feels like. May be it's nothing huge but this experience means a lot for me. I am not that person who demands much but is happy with little things in life.

Patriarchy

Patriarchy Patriarchy, a system that prevails still in 21st century.Apparently it seems like male domination but is it actually so?Yes,of course men are privileged  by this system but if we observe it deeply men are also circumscribed by the system itself just like other genders. This very system itself has created a very rigid definition that which gender should behave in what way.Women and other genders are already marginalized which is very much evident.Let us discuss about the apparently privileged males of the Patriarchal society.                                                                                                            ...
