Dusk

Dusk    - Sudiptaa Bhattacharya  The sky, Change its form. I sit alone, On a roof by norm. Just as a ritual, As they fly casual. They are the birds, That passed,  bidding adieu, To the day.

The man in the dream

Renu, a lady of 28 years is a teacher at a government school. Her interests in academics led her to pursue PhD. She is a girl who rules her own life with a decent dominance of her existence. Renu 's parents are aging and they are reluctant to make her get married. Renu the charming girl, who mixes up with every possible decent human being is a lonely girl deep down. She finds every human relation is complicated and this is the reason she doesn't want to extend her family. But being a teacher she loves to give a nurtured upbringing to the new generation. Unlike her parents she had no desire to marry anybody.

It's around 12O'clock at night Renu had thoughts passing down through her unconscious mind, that she could observe through her consciousness. Tomorrow a family is coming with their son to visit Renu and her family at their place so that they could have a talk regarding marriage. Renu felt drowsy and tired ar her study table. She had no idea she started dosing off. Now, the unconscious self starts its game. A dream started to manifest within her mind. She finds herself a mother of a young boy. The boy whom she has groomed in her own way. In her dream she finds instances where the boy speaks up for equality for real and discards male chauvinism. In their little home she cooks and the boy wash the dishes and clean the house by dusting and sweeping. This boy is someone who voices neither for men nor for women but for mankind. He finds mystery in every human, being a keen observer of everything. He is his mother's strength and weakness at the same time. He breaks the patriarchal rules and cries whenever he is in pain. He loves and respects the diversity that nature has created in terms of gender. He has many questions to throw to this society where both male and female are involved but only females are blamed, as in case of sexual abuse, divorce cases, being polyamorous, having extramarital affair and many more. An open minded gentleman overall, whom Renu had groomed with her own hands over years  She is proud of her son at times. A man with the rarest thought process and outlook towards this modern world, where modern patriarchy, till date holds the fact that virginity is a woman's touchstone in modern patriarchal society.

A sudden loud call made Renu come into consciousness. Renu 's mother was calling her loudly. She asked her to get ready as her probable would be in-laws are coming. She was taking time to understand what she dreamt last night. She finds herself sitting on chair and putting her head down on the study table. She kept quiet the entire morning and set herself ready. She didn't even share the dream of last night with her parents as she herself found no clue behind this dream. Moreover the impact of the dream was so real to her that she couldn't believe that it was something that she was dreaming of. She found the dream and the real world as two spheres of reality.
At around 11 O'clock in the morning the much awaited family arrived. As she entered the drawing room she made the first eye contact with the boy, with whom she might get married. Is she shocked, or overwhelmed or numb? What is this feeling called? This was exactly the same boy whom she had in her dreams last night as her son.

  1. You have written a true scenario of today's world where many women find themselves very insecure to get into a relationship because of patriarchal domination.
I feel that Renu thinks of that perfect man with whom she can live her rest of the life in her subconscious mind and as a result her perfect life partner is manifested in real life .So the boy who is the son in her dream and the man come to meet her family both are same person but in her dream the relationship is different as she is not certain about her marriage.

    1. I really love this interpretation of yours 😊.....May be Renu always had an image of a perfect male figure in her unconscious mind, being a teacher her passion for giving a nurtured upbringing to the young generation manifested the dream's man as her son and coincidentally may be she found that perfect one in real life who might become her husband 😊but the conclusive part is upto my readers.😊

Its never too late to feel what you are passionate about and to go for it.It can be anything like, dancing, swimming, painting, singing,or anything you feel like.Just afford to get a good schooling,in what you are passionate about rather make yourself well-bred for that and stay with it through out your life.May be you are a kid or an young adult or a mature adult and you might also be an old human but if you have the will you have the way.No power is greater than will power of human.Trust me,life becomes happier and easier when we start to love with our passion. My passion is to dance and I have started it at the age of two and now I am nineteen ,still I am with dance in the happy journey of my life.Think your passion as a human being, accept it like your beloved.Only our passion stays in ups and downs and difficult times of life to give rel...

Indianness

Celebrating Indianness through classical Dance, Kathak - India is unique in cherishing seven classical dance forms of its own, namely , Kathak,Kathakali, Kuchipuri, Bharatnatyam,Mohiniyattam, Manipuri,Odissi. Patriarchy

Patriarchy Patriarchy, a system that prevails still in 21st century.Apparently it seems like male domination but is it actually so?Yes,of course men are privileged  by this system but if we observe it deeply men are also circumscribed by the system itself just like other genders. This very system itself has created a very rigid definition that which gender should behave in what way.Women and other genders are already marginalized which is very much evident.Let us discuss about the apparently privileged males of the Patriarchal society.                                                                                                            ...
